Located in the centre of Tallaght village, fronting onto Main Street, ‘Bruce House’ is a contemporary residential development which completes the missing corner of an existing residential development known as Priorsgate. The new build development comprises 38 apartments over 5 floors.
The building has been designed with context in mind, taking cues from the neighbouring development in form and materials; using predominantly brick, render and contrasting cladding to the penthouse. Recessed balconies break up the massing with modern, streamlined glass balconies. The building form was generated by a desire to maximise daylight into the apartments.
The building fills in the northeast corner of a large, central landscaped courtyard between new and existing developments. A comprehensive landscape scheme has been proposed throughout the site to tie the two together.
In addition to the apartments achieving A3 BER rating the development also incorporates blue/green roofs and uses air to water heating units for each apartment.
The main entrance creates an active frontage onto Main Street. Bicycle storage and other residents’ facilities are all located at grade or in the existing basement for maximum efficiency.
